Travel Cebu - Tingko, Alcoy

And yet another unplanned trip that turned out to be one of my favorite was our bound south to Tingko beach. Tingko beach is a popular getaway located in Daan Lungsod, Alcoy in Cebu, Philippines. 2-3 hours of travel is not bad if you want an instant paradise-like destination. Going there is easy, just go to the Cebu South Bus terminal, ask around where to find a bus going to Alcoy, that's it.

I've been to Tingko beach 3 times now but it's always as amazing as my first visit. What I like about the place is its serenity and how everything is simple from this part of Cebu. Simple in a sense that there aren't any fancy place you can eat but instead humble convenient stores willing to cook instant food for you. If you like a place where you don't really have to spend a lot (since this is a public beach), this one should be part of your to-go list.

We didn't spend anything for any rental huts, instead we let loose and sit quietly under a coral rock.

One thing you should not forget. Sunblock. Not to be vain but to protect yourself from the harsh sun.

It may be quiet here but comes the peak season, there are plenty of people in the area usual in a public beach.

One of the huts that you can rent, on top of a rock. We were underneath.

The beach is near the road, you won't miss this spot in Alcoy for sure.

My pointers to remember:
  • If you want a comfortable journey going to the place, board an air-conditioned bus, there is just a 20-peso difference from the regular bus fair.
View from our bus, this was in the middle of our travel when everyone reached their destination and we were still waiting to reach Tingko, Alcoy.
  • Bring your own food, unless you like eating instant noodles/Ramen or canned goods from the convenient stores. Their market is almost empty, not even a single grilled chicken stall was available around. (maybe it depends during peak season.
  • Shower is 20 pesos while use of toilet is 10 pesos. Maybe just do your routine at the same time while paying for the shower?
  • Bring a combination lock for your valuable's security.
  • Bring a litter or 2 of potable water. Aside from its expensive in Tingko beach, its also safer to have your own.
