My old aquarium

I miss my aquarium…. deciding to keep another one again… hmmmmm let me think…

Puerto Princesa, Palawan Travel

Puerto Princesa in Palawan Island would be one of the places that I’d love to revisit. Its almost summer, so I’ve been itching to visit nice places to enjoy the beach, the sun, and the food. This entry is about our Palawan travel way back 2010, me and Ivane were about to celebrate our 4th (or maybe 5th) year anniversary and since we got a reasonable plane promo we decided to visit Palawan.
image
Palawan is a top travel destination, from food tripping to animal farms, divine food, nature tripping, to the famous Puerto Princessa underground river, you would never go wrong in choosing this Philippine destination.
And since Ivane is fond of taking pictures, let all of these visuals tell you about our trip:
Day 1 - City tour, Badjao Seafront Restaurant
image
The Legend Hotel, one of the best place to stay in Puerto Princesa, Palawan (service was great!)

image
We went to this crocodile farm that houses different animals too (at least caged in the zoo, and not with the crocodiles.. lol)

Mayor Mitra’s farm, overlooking the wonderful Puerto Princesa, Palawan

One of the many souvenir shops in Puerto Princesa

A stop-over in Baker’s hill for some afternoon snacks. This place is not just famous with their baked goods but you’d be surprise they also have this mini zoo, a pizza parlor and several other stuff-selling-stalls.

We ended our day in Badjao Seafront restaurant.
Day 2 - Underground River Tour

Day 3 - Transferred to another resort, Rest day.
image
We get bored easily. On a long vacation, hopping to one resort to another is actually a good idea :) This time around we were at Deep Forest Garden Resort.
image
They have plenty of this wooden sculpture around, and according to the owner these are for sale.
image
I know this one is nice. ( but I cannot imagine bringing one of these to our house)

Playing with massivehumongous, gigantic big chess board pieces.

Ivane can barely move her bishop. lol

shakeys for dinner

Day 4 - Food tripping at KaLui Seafood and Native Restaurant, and we went to this beach (I forgot the name) nearby.
image
This was a very unique experience for us, everybody in the resto were on their bare feet. (yes, you are not allowed inside with any footwear)

we went to this nice beach nearby
Day 5 - Honda Bay Tour during the day and food tripping at ‘Bilao at Palayok’ Seafood and Native Restaurant at night

Day 6 - Preparation of the pasalubongs, Last day (the sad part)

Souvenir and pasalubong buying.
It was a 6-day long vacation. A good way to relieve yourself from stress and work.
(My feeling-expert-tips)
1.) Avoid getting sick - yea, I was sick half of our stay. anyway, if possible bring your medicines to avoid missing the activities.
2.) Bring an insect repellent - What we brought was the ilog Maria brand, this is of course to avoid malaria/dengue or the like.
3.) Resort hopping - As I said earlier, try other resorts, its gonna be a totally new experience once you transfer from one to another (only applicable for long staying travelers)
4.) Go with fast food - this might be funny but it worked for me whenever I travel. This is not to restrict you from eating in fancy restaurants, but at least maybe for lunch or breakfast (unless the hotel/resort provides one) go to a budget friendly fast food.
5.) Get some rest - as much as possible, get some rest after a long tour, you might get too tired in going to your next destination.
That’s it Pancit!!

Rainy Cebu

I always make it to a point to run at least 4 times a week to keep myself healthy and active. But, the sky is gloomy plus its a little bit misty so I’m not going out to run today. I know its pretty cold and its nice to just sit down, watch a movie and enjoy a 20 degree-ish temperature, but I think I still like it when its sunny since I can do a lot of things outside.
Its been raining for 2 days now, though according to PAGASA there is no tropical storm forming however Visayas area will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains.
Oh well, I can just hope for a better weather condition, or maybe not according to the BING weather app. T_T
I guess I will just stay dry and warm in-house.

Cebu Travel - Sinulog

When you travel to the Philippines, don't forget to travel Cebu. Its not just the place that will make your visit memorable, but also all the events this small island has to offer. I'm not trying to be your travel guide but I can't help it, let me start with Sinulog in Cebu (usually held every 3rd week of January).

Saturday before Sinulog, don't miss checking out local bars to feel the pre-sinulog spirit.

Here's Ivane during Sonic Boom Cebu 2013 Sinulog Blastoff.

You should also check out major shopping malls for shopping  (lol) for some fancy fireworks display.

Here are our other pictures during Sinulog:

And here's my two cents on your next Sinulog swing:

(My feeling-expert-tips)

1.) Wear comfortable clothing.
2.) Bring a hankie or a hand towel (to wipe your sweat since there's a lot of walking involve)
3.) A sling bag enough to hold basic stuff (bottled water, umbrella, cellphone, wallet, extra shirt, etc.)
4.) To avoid the crowd (though there will be a lot of people everywhere). Look for alternative routes avoiding the main road where the festivity is happening.
5.) Don't be uptight (loosen up and hold your temper). Don't get mad if people may step on your feet or blocks your view, that's expected when there are more than 4 million people along with you during Sinulog.
6.) Do not wear slippers (at least for me), to avoid dirt on your feet, hurting your feet from walking or people stepping on you.
7.) Get enough sleep before the event. You'll get tired from walking and partying
8.) As much as possible do not bring a car. It'll be hard for you to find a parking spot, or people might stain on it.
9.) Enjoy and party like an animal.
